About This Game The game takes place on the Western Front between 1914 and 1918, in one of the bloodiest conflicts in world history - inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun in 1916. Verdun is the first multiplayer FPS set in a realistic World War One setting, the game which started the WW1 Game series. The vicious close quarters nature of trench warfare means that skill with a bayonet can be as vital as good aim with a rifle. The game offers 5 distinct game-modes with many historically accurate features such as realistic WW1 weaponry, authentic uniforms, horrendous gore, and maps based on the real battlefields of France and Belgium. The dynamic Frontlines game mode features 64 players taking turns to go over the top and attempt to capture the opposing trench line.Verdun key features include:Experience World War One gameplay: Accurate weaponry with realistic bullet physics, skill based weapon handling, poisonous gas with a claustrophobic gas mask experience, horrendous gore effects, and ferocious artillery barragesTactical squad-based FPS: 15 distinctive squad types representing soldiers from 5+ countries, each with distinct weapons and equipmentTrue trench warfare: Real-time dynamic frontline with momentum based attack and counter-attack gameplayAuthentic World War 1 setting: Typical WW1 music and style, historical battlefields representing the key theaters on the Western FrontChallenging game modes: Team-based Frontlines, tactical Attrition, and skill-based Rifle Deathmatch, desperate survival in Squad Defense and epic 64 player Frontlines including bot support.WW1 on the Western FrontThe gameplay in this true WW1 battlefield experience is as immersive and gritty as it can get, with features such as optional realistic gore which portrays the true horror of the First World War and authentic weaponry including artillery and gas. Weapons need to be handled with skill - each gun handles differently and there are no floating crosshairs to aid your aim, along with realistic bullet physics to contend with. Battle your way across no man’s land to capture the next enemy trench line, before switching to defense to protect your gains in the Frontlines game mode. Keep your head down or quickly don your mask in the event of artillery strikes or gas attacks. This unforgiving war isn’t for the faint hearted!Authentic World War One SettingThe WW1 Game Series currently includes Verdun and Tannenberg (set on the Eastern Front). These authentic WW1 shooters let players choose from a range of squads from across the war, as they fight for control of the ever-changing frontlines. For Verdun, we carried out extensive field research at the battlefield itself and were advised by knowledgeable historians to make sure the individual elements in Verdun are as historically accurate as it can get. Uniforms have been recreated to the tiniest detail, the weapons are modeled to exact references and the maps use realistic props and terrain layouts. Everything in the game has been tailored to recreate the grim atmosphere so typical of WW1, from the immersive interface and war torn maps to realistic sounds and voices that evoke the feeling of actually being there in the mud covered trenches, peering out over no man's land in search of the enemy. 7aa9394dea Title: VerdunGenre: Action, Indie, StrategyDeveloper:M2H, Blackmill GamesPublisher:M2HFranchise:WW1 Game SeriesRelease Date: 28 Apr, 2015 Verdun Password This is the most authentic WW1 experience you'll get in a game!I would recommend this game to anyone interested in the battles of WW1 and the sort of weaponry each side was using. This game is no Battlefield, you get shot your dead. Despite the damage mechanics this game has Iv'e never felt that It's unfair when I die. I made a mistake or stuck my head out just a little too long and you end up learning and trying not to have it happen again. Some people might compare this game to a Mil Sim because of the damage but you don't really need much team communication to be successful. Pros-- Historically Accurate- Controls are very intuitive and not difficult to get the hang of- Not frustrating when it comes to dying repeatedly ( I'm not really tiltable when it comes to games so keep that in mind )- Visibility Is really good on enemies and team mates- Gun play Is intuitive when it comes to aiming and balance ( getting shot in the arm with a pistol usually won't kill you )also no gun is a jack of all trades. There's no pistol you can snipe with and all the full auto guns take a fair amount of bullets to kill. - All classes are fun and have a unique play style ( you will probably find a class that fits your type of play style )- Each map feels different and unique to each other even with them all having trenchesCons-- Gas is no threat at all and even with the lengthy gas mask animation I don't think Iv'e ever died to the gas- If you play games late at night dont expect more than 3 or 4 actual players in your match and a bunch of bots ( If you want to grind kills and level up than It's very easy with a bunch of bots )- It's hard to notice grenades and with the amount of damage they do you really want to get away from them. The only clear way is when yours or another players character shouts " Grenade " or " Granate " but the voice line sometimes doesn't play at all.- The amount of screen shake, I know its for immersion but It gets rather annoying after a while. I can see why it's there though it can really help or mess yours or another players aim.- The really bare bones animations when it comes to the way your hands move. It just looks to robotic but I'm sure the devs will work on them at some point and they aren't confusing when it comes to what your character is doing. There's not much that's terrible and the things I mentioned aren't at all annoying enough to really hinder the game in any way. If the stuff I said in this review peaked your interest then by all means this is the game for you.. COOL, PLAYGAME LIKE BATTLEFIELD. HIGHLY UNDERRATED. has very good reviews and for a reason. but i feel like this game should be way more popular! awesome feel to the game, massive maps and the game style and setups are unique in its own way. highly recommend this game!. The May 20th update turned Verdun to the game I've always wanted it to be. Smooth, fun, gory, and authentic WW1 experience.I love Verdun and recommend it to anyone who loves WW1 and\/or FPS games!10\/10 great game!. Game used to be fun before they added bots and changed the UI.. Before the Update on 20th of May 2019 it was a great game and I must admit, I\u00b4ve had a lot of fun with it.BUTThe Update killed it completely! All the nice and simple menues have been changed to the bulcky wide-screen buttons like you know them from Battlefield 1 but worse! Meaning you do have to spend like 5 min untill you even know where you are (in menue). Also, ingame events are now getting announced by the same kind of wide-screen TV-Style windows... and there are a LOT more of them now, meaning like all 30s you\u00b4ll be interrupted by a gigantic pop-up and untill you read it and found the button to make it dissapear, youre dead!. I work in the Canadian Military and Education Center. my area of knowledge is in trench warfare during the great war. most games do a poor depiction of World War 1. However I find that this games terrain is incredibly accurate to the trenches on the western front. The one thing I would love to see added is terrain that changes based on artillery shelling. I enjoy it immensely and highly recommend for anyone interested in the great war!. The update killed this game. Very good game. Pretty realistic, looks nice, sounds nice. Every kill is very satisfying, every minute in this game is enjoyble and every $ spent on this game was definitely worth it. 8,5\/10. The game is a buggy steam if pile. It crashes constantly and every time I close it down I cant start the game again becaus steam will see it as running until i exit steam. That being said: Its probably one of the most intense WW1 games i have ever played.
